I chose to train as an integrative practitioner as this gives me the advantage of being able to work in a variety of different ways. I believe that combining the many valuable ideas and techniques developed from the different approaches of Therapeutic Counselling, such as, Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (CBT), means that I am better able to meet your personal needs and adjust my approach as our work progresses, or as different issues are encountered.
The best therapeutic outcome is based on a personal, empathic, non-judgemental relationship between you and the counsellor. Within this relationship you can explore what is going on in your life, gain insight into your feelings, and better understand your behaviours and thinking patterns. This can help you to come to terms with past experiences, develop better ways of coping, help overcome depression or anxiety, and challenge and change unhelpful ways of thinking.
